The LPG fuel system comes in two major types .The Sequential injection system and the vapour system.
This is the Injection system.
The injection system, although slightly more expensive ,is far superior to the old vapour systems.
The gas is injected directly into the inlet manifold just behind the valves. This ensures the right quantity of fuel is delivered at exactly the right moment, thus making the vehicle more economical and eliminating the possibility of backfires.
Backfires are sometimes common on vehicles fitted with vapour kits.
SO HOW DOES IT WORK?

The complete injection system
This is a schematic of the entire system. We will look at each component in turn and explain its use.
1. The ECU
The ECU is the brain of the system. This unit controls the injection of the gas by taking signals from the vehicles own ECU and adapting them to suit the injection of LPG
2 .Tank,multivalve and filler
The tank and is where the gas is stored and the multivalve functions as a safety device and is also where the fuel level sender is located
3. Injection Rail
This unit is used to feed the gas in measured quantities to the injectors at the inlet manifold
4.Vapourizer and fuel cut off solenoid
The vapourizer is a unit that converts liquid gas from the tank into vapour.
This is done by warming the liquid gas.The heat for this process is supplied by the engines cooling system.
The vapourizer is plumbed into the cooling system and is heated by the water that is circulated around the engine
The fuel cut off solenoid (or switch) is opened on ativation of the system. It also acts as a safety cut off for the gas.
5.Injectors
This is where the gas vapour is injected into the inlet manifold
6.Switch
This controls the change over from gas to petrol and vice verca.
It is also doubles as the fuel gauge for the gas.
