The advantages of having your vehicle converted to run on Liquid Petroleum Gas are numerous to say the least.
A variety of kits are available to carry out the conversion, from the standard vapour kit to the latest sequential gas injection kits.
Running a vehicle on LPG means you get more miles for your money, less wear to your engine, less harmful emissions, and the resale value of the vehicle is somewhat increased.
On average the kit will pay for itself in less than 2 years. Of course the more miles you cover the quicker you recoup your initial outlay.

ABOUT LPG
LPG is produced during the normal petrol chemical distilling process of crude oil and the letters LPG stand for Liquefied Petroleum Gas, so in other words - petrol gas - which is 100% octane as in 100% octane 5* petrol 97/98 4* and 97super unleaded. Any car can run on high octane fuel without modification, problems arise from cars designed to run on high octane being asked to use regular unleaded, which is 94%. LPG is stored in a liquid form because being 250x more dense than as a gas it requires less space within the car.
Interestingly two of the largest nations for LPG use in vehicles are Italy and Japan, who are not oil producers. In the UK we produce in excess of 4 million tonnes per year

SO HOW MUCH DOES AN LPG CONVERSION COST?
At Shardlow Autogas we pride ourselves on the quality and reliability of our conversions.
We now fit the latest sequential injection kits.
Although these kits are slightly more expensive, we believe that the reliability and economy achieved by the injection kits far outways the extra cost.
As vehicles are different in their design,the choice of tanks does have an effect on the overall price of the conversion.
Prices for an injection kit conversion range from 1600 to 2200 pounds inclusive of V.A.T
Prices for a vapour kit conversion range from 850 to 1500 pounds inclusive of V.A.T.
Also included in the price are:-A courtesy car,a full tank of gas,LPGA approval certificate,and 12 month (or 12000 mile) no quibble parts and labour warranty.Also included is a free 500 mile check up and service.

LPGA APPROVAL
The LPGA have set up an approval scheme in the U.K in order to recognise professional fitters and installers of LPG conversions.
Approved members are qualified to issue LPGA approval certificates.
These certificates are recognised by all the major insurence companies as a mark of safety and quaility workmanship.
Shardlow Autogas fitters are all LPGA approved and are qualified to issue LPGA certificates.
